HOW TO CONNECT A GUITAR TO A PC (in under $6, no amp required)

Playing the guitar is a passion shared by many people. Be it acoustic or electric guitar. Its always nice to play the guitar either for yourself or in front of other people. When it is just played for yourself or in front of other on stage, it is simple. Just plug the guitar to the amplifier and play. But when you want to record it and playback, it gets a little tricky. But not hard.

When it is just played for yourself or in front of other on stage, it is simple. Just plug the guitar to the amplifier and play. But when you want to record it and playback, it gets a little tricky. But not hard.
When we usually want to record something from the guitar at home, we usually do it with our cell phone or a microphone connected to the computer. That will do to some extent but it cant be used professionally due to a lot of noise in the record. The noise could either be because of the bad quality of the microphone or because of the surrounding. Now my room faces the main road, so everytime i try to record something there is always some or the other vehicle honking in the background. So i have never been able to use the audio files that i have recorded using those This method won't cost you much, just a couple of bucks.
Now i will explain how this is done in a few simple steps. This method is pretty easy to do. But before I tell you what materials are required and how it is done, I want you to know that this method can only record one instrument at a time. And also this method cannot be use for a very professional stuff, it is good for using it for making audio in your house or for your school.
MATERIALS REQUIRED :
- 3.5mm audio aux cable ( available on amazon )

- 1/4 inch to 3.5mm adaptor (available on amazon )

- Electric or semi acoustic guitar
- PC with a working sound card
- Audio recording software
The aux cable is usually used to connect the iPod to the car stereo and stuff. And the adaptor is usually not used :P . We need an audio recording software because we need an agent which receives the signals sent from the pick-up of the guitar. That method i will show can be used for an electric or a semi acoustic guitar. CAUTION : dont expect your PC to behave like an amplifier. A lot of guides tell you that your computer becomes an amplifier. That is not true.
HOW TO CONNECT A GUITAR TO A PC, steps :
- Get your guitar out and connect the 1/4 inch adaptor to the guitar (where you connect the amplifier).
- Connect one of the ends of the aux cable to the back end of the 1/4 inch adaptor
- Connect the other end of the aux cable to the microphone jack of your pc.
- Open the recording software and start recording.
Those were the simple steps. If you follow the steps properly you are good to go. Just make sure your aux cable is long so that it can be connected properly.
